During my sophomore year of high school, a necklace of mine broke. My first instinct was to fix it. After ordering some jump rings, I crafted a pair of earrings. What could have ended up just another victim of my infinite junk pile became a treasure when given a second chance. That treasure manifested into my jewelry business, K8 Says.

I started through word of mouth but jumped at the opportunity to showcase my digital design skills. This spread includes my logo, business card/care card, and a glimpse at some of the photography I’ve taken.

Hoops For Hope

This was content creation for the instagram of K8 Says. The Hoops for Hope line was created during Breast Cancer Awareness month to raise funds for The Rose, a nonprofit breast health care organization. The lack of access to affordable health care is something I want to change and my reason behind starting lines like this. Early detection mammography screenings are the most powerful weapons in the fight against breast cancer, and something that has kept my family safe. The Rose provides access to screening, diagnostics, and treatment services to any woman regardless of her ability to pay. Donating 40% of my profits is my way of giving hope to patients at The Rose.

Promotional Video

A huge motivator in my life is helping others. K8 Says, aka Kate Says, is my way to do so. Each product of mine has a message that “Kate” is figuratively and literally trying to communicate. Equally as important, I wanted these confidence-boosting accessories to be affordable and last. I source affordable supplies and coat them in an enamel coating to make them last just as long as higher-end jewelry. This takes much longer, but I can’t put a price on confidence. With the modeling of my best friend and customers, I filmed and edited this within Adobe Premiere Pro.
